Is it me, or is that just a horrible place to locate gages by the
shifter? I would prefer to have them somewhere up top so I can keep an
eye on them while driving and not have to shift focus from the road.

Other than that, I still prefer my 2006 Mustang GT over the new Camaro
and Challenger. Sure, they may have me on power, but I am only a
supercharger/turbo away from fixing that little issue.

back in the 60s the non essential gauges were on the console. Essential
gauges were speedo, fuel, and tach.

I think that was a way to honor the original design, I read about it in
some magazine. That's where they "have always been". Poor placing yes.
