Passenger side water in Tacoma - Had a little water dripping inside cab on the passenger side floor mat. Looks to be coming from the firewall. Was running AC. Dealer service said they've had a couple in with a AC condenser drain plugged. Can I get to this instead of incurring a $XX.

2000 vs 2001 Tundra ? - I'm looking at getting a used Tundra, either a 2000 or 2001 model year. Given that the 2000 is the first Tundra model, should I be concerned with any of the usual year model " issues, i.e., did Toyota need to work out a lot of kinks in its second..

Hello,

Please help! I had the windshield tested for leaks and it passed the test.
The water only occurs when it rains. The Truck does not need to be moving
for the water to appear. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Best regards,

RG

This is a known issue with the Tacoma. The firewall to cowl seam wasn't
completely sealed. You might check with Toyota to see if this could be a
problem in some Tundra's too. Here is link for the Tacoma problem-
http://clem.mscd.edu/~reesegr/BO004-05.pdf The procedure to confirm the
leak in the article would seem to apply to your Tundra as well.

Here is a link to another site showing trouble shooting methods-
http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamods/tsb/waterleak/waterleak.htm

Forum posts on the subject here-

Hope these help solve the problem.

I had the same thing happen and it was the AC condensation line being
blocked. The water backed up and dripped down in behind the glove box. Crawl
under and find the drain end and blow compressed air back through it. That
worked for me.

I took the dask apart and found one cowling clip that clips inside the
passenger compartment. That is where it was leaking. I had to remove the
fan assembly to see it.
