Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This is just as stupid as the other idea. People won't do it because they would only hurt themselves. You would be lining up at the alternate station that would not have any gas. Pretty dumb really.
Disgruntled consumers come up with these ideas out of fear and anxiety. There are reasons for the problem and they are long term. We got complacent and did not act on the first oil crisis. We got lured back to overuse with relative cheap oil and not we're stuck again.
Personally, I don't think we have put enough emphasis on alternate energy sources. We might have had a solution over the last 30 years had the billions needed been applied to this problem. In the short term I believe oil is very elastic to the demand. I have cut my usage nearly in half. I bike and consolidate trips and drive for mileage. Others could do the same and it would make a difference.
Promoting a chain letter to boycott two oil companies is a waste of bandwidth.

I agree fully AlBundy.

Like a complete fool I was sucked in. When somebody brought it to my attention how stupid it was that I realized how shortsighted I had been!
Apologies to all!

Archived from groups: alt>cars (more info?)

Feel free to spread it around - the more of us that take action by not
buying from esso or bp will be helping lower petrol prices - eventually!
