Hi,

I noticed a few days ago that my coolant level was about 1/2" lower
than the cool sign on the expansion bottle and i added a bit of 50/50
to bring it up to level. When I opened the expansion bottle cap, there
was some gunky stuff on the lid and in the bottle itself. I cleaned
the best I could, but I'd like to give the whole cooling system a good
flush.

Is the "fill it up with water and run it for a while, flush again and
then fill up with coolant" still working for this engines? I'd like to
stay away from any additional chemicals in the system, the car has
>225K kms on it, I don't want to break anything more.

BTW, Saab Canada sels this GM coolant (AC Delco) - any good, or should
I go with a Mercedes coolant?

Thanks, Ben

Check this link: http://townsendimports.com/Web/cooling_system_folder/coolingsys.htm
for info about the Mercedes coolant. I haven't checked the price at
the ChryCo dealer, but if it's competitive with AC Delco, etc, and is
the MB spec, that's what I'd buy!
