Post subject: Poor running RAV4

New 2005 Diesel RAV4 XT3 MANUAL will not rev past 3000 sticks and starts to jump have to change down gears to get any life MPG dropping down rapidly also whilst idling the average MPG drops down now struggling to get 32MPG dealer replaced diesel pump after 3 weeks in garage ..- no difference any advise ???

Hopefully the dealer did the basics, like making sure there was not a
restriction in the fuel system leading to the injection pump. I've had
problems with diesel like yours due to a clogged filter (I'll bet there are
at least two in the fuel system). It is also possible that the delivery pump
(as opposed to the injection pump) is weak. The dealer needs to make sure
that a sufficient supply of clean fuel is being delivered to the injection
pump. Assuming this is good, and that the injection pump is good, then you
need to start looking for more significant engine problem.

Hi

Thanks ...on Thursday they replaced the seals ??? on the reconditioned diesel pump and up to yet it is working fine apparantly
