2000 Passat V6 coolant - Along with the water pump change, I'm replacing the coolant. Of course, VW told me I should buy their red coolant because it's the best. Is there any reason I cant just get brand name red stuff from my auto parts store and use it?

my 1998 passat tdi loses coolant every 2 days or so . there are no leaks and no oil in the coolant. every time i take the expansion cap off to top the coolant up , there is pressure there , even when the engine is cold. i have removed the thermostat , checked the water pump and flushed the system through

Check the EGR cooler. They have been known to leak internally. Take one of
the EGR connections off & you might see moisture in there.
