Helllo Gang. I have a 1993 Taurus that's leaking oil. I have replaced the oil pressure sending unit, that is OK. I have a nice pool of oil right at where the distribuitor goes into the engine on top, now this isnt the first time ive had this, i have replaced the O-Ring that sits on the body o..
« Um... isn't milky oil a sign of water in your oil? ~e. »
« Been a long time since I owned a Taurus, but if the oil filter mount has an adapter plate bolted to the engine, the gasket behind that plate is the probable culprit. »

« i should say we tried a 1 1/16 12 point socket. i see a size 1 1/16 socket listed as a sending unit socket. will a 1 1/16 six point socket work? »
« take the new unit and buy what fits it , a cresentwrench caliper reading will give you the an accuate enough size reading from the old unit to the new. »
« There is a special socket for these. You need the particular socket for it, it's not a standard 6, 8 or 12 point. If you can get to it with an open end wrench (that's never happened to me with t.. »
« thank you »

Where is the oil pressure sending unit on a 301 engine? If it's write above the oil filter then the sender I just bought from Year One will never fit. I'm replacing the stock idiot lights with factory gauges and need to replace the oil pressure sender. I ordered the correct unit but there is ..
« It goes where the old sender was. I have one here I can look at - I'll try to reply tomorrow. If worse comes to worst, you can alway add a few fittings, like an elbow, to get it where you can fi.. »
« I haven't removed the old one yet. There just seems to be too little room. The housing of the sender is very large and the original is much smaller. Thanks for checking. David »

I am trying to find the Oil Pressure Sending Unit on a 318 V8 engine in an '87 Dodge Ram 100. It has a history of problems with the Oil Pressure Gauge fluctuating for no apparent reason. After replaceing the Oil Pan Gasket there are no more apparent oil leaks, but it is still reading low or no p..
« Look right next to the distributor. You need a special socket to get it out. If you buy a new one from a parts house it will leak in a year or two. Al »
« He has a gauge so a different sending unit. IIRC, a 7/16"open end wrench fits the unit. Getting to the unit with the wrench is a bit of a problem...it's tight back there. »
