Post subject: Ford Mondeo Boot Release

hi all

i have a 1998 1.8 mondeo hatch. the boot will not open when i press
the release button the the tail, it pushes in and comes out but the
boot wont release.

ive had a look inside at the mech and when the button is pressed i can
see the actuator (which has the release cable attached) move in and out
but it isnt pulling the cable to open it at all.

has any one else had this prob?
