Millenium with a cold?

95 mazda millenium.
So my car is starting to sputer when i turn it on.Not all the time but it started when i would go up an hill. I would hit the hold button on the automatic stift stick. ANd all would be okay. It would run smooth. But now it is happening all the time. Kind of like it is getting fluded? I can smell gas somtime when i start it up. probly becuse i'm steping on the gas to stop it from sputering out. It never dies. Some time it will stop sputering and go like a bat out of hell. I will be getting the oil changed on friday.I was thinking on getting the transmission flushed? and even a tune up. i think it has 160.000
