HI.

Stopped by a local Lincoln/Mercury dealer a couple weeks ago. Several
Grand Marquis 2000 & newer seemed to be priced fairly reasonable with
decent miles on them. I've never had a Ford or worked on them before, so
I'm not familiar with them.

Are the usual wear items fairly easy to remove and replace? Things like
the water pump, altenator, starter, spark plugs, belt & hoses and
brakes.

This would be the 4.6V8 engine. Would the work involved on the Marauder
engine be the same as the Grand Marquis?

Does the Marquis have one of those radios like GM has that goes into a
lockdown mode if the battery is disconnected? I hate that kinda crap.

Thanks for any information.

NIke

the Grand Marquis is the best bargain you'll find. Keep the oil changed and
you'll get 300k out of that motor. The water pump is a good 20 minute job,
as is the alternator. Everything else is an easy job. Don't know about the
radio, sorry. If the vehicle has a plastic intake manifold, I would remove
the thermostat bolts and coat them with anti-seize now.

Old Grand Marquis Ratings - Does anyone know (or know where I could find a listing of) of the peak torque /horsepower ratings (and their respective RPM's) for an '83 grand marquis (all stock). it's the 5.0 liter. This is pure curiosity, I've looked qutie a bit and can't seem to..

92 Grand Marquis - 4.6 liter. Check engine light is on, rough idle at times. The trouble code is 335 - EGR sensor voltage out of range. Where is the sensor? I can't find it. -- Black Dragon That which does not kill us, makes us stranger. -- Trevor Goodchild - AEon..
