Any ideas on where I can get a replacement knob for the drivers side
seat in a 2003 MR Spyder.

I search this group and found some auto-part stores on-line -but I
could not determine how to find this part (or what the real name of
this part is)

Did you try the local Toyota dealer? They may even have the correct
nomenclature.
