Lack Of Power

My car has suddenly developed a lack of power, backfires and hard to start I have changed the plugs and leads today , changed the distributor cap and rotor about 12 months ago. Any suggestion would be of great help Thanks Damien
« My first thought is to check the timing belt. If it has jumped the symptoms you describe make a lot of sense. To check it, remove the upper part of the timing belt cover. Use a socket on the crank.. »

I have a 1964 Daytona Convertible, 259, with factory insstalled 4- Speed. The AFB 4-bbl Carb and Manifold, Electronic Ignition with Breakerless Distributor, Aluminum Flywheel, are from Dave Thibeault. It also has an 14x2 " Air Filter from Chrome Chrome Chrome. Somewhere in its life the rear was ..

Occassional it hesitates on take off, lack of power, service engine light is on. Could it be something to do with the gas line or filter?
