Post subject: Key will not come out of ignition

Have a Chevy Trailblazer 2004. Yestday evening went to shut off the car and could not pull key out of ignition. After playing with it for a while it finally released. Drove home and the same thing happened. Had to leave the key in the ignition, husband forgot to work on it last night and now the battery is dead and still can't get the key out. Any thoughts.
