Izuzu stops while driving, please help so my kids are safe

96 Izuzu Rodeo stops while driving. Every time this happens, the engine device fuse blows.....can't drive anymore (espcially with kids in car) cause I'm afraid of being rear-ended. There is NO warning....just stops.
Please help with any advice of what I should be checking. I did have it towed to mechanic...he checked it and all he could find was the engine device fuse was blown.....he replace the fuse....it worked for about a week and did it again.....I've replace the fuse 3 times now....just too afraid to drive it anymore......can't afford to take it in again!

I recently had the same problem. come to find out it was a bare wire where the wiring harness was rubbing on the radiator support.
the engine device fuse goes to the alternator.
the bare wire I found on mine was under the battery and the washer tank on the passenger side of the vehicle
