Intermittent Car Starting Trouble

I have been having some trouble starting my 98 Dodge Durango recently. Sometimes I will turn the ignition to start and the lights will come on but nothing else happens. I hear a click, but nothing more. If I try repeatedly eventually the engine will start. At other times the engine starts on the first try. Any suggestions as to what the cause may be or what I should do the fix the problem?

do you have enough battery voltage? try cranking and check the voltage with a meter. might be the starter solenoid. check starter signal with a test light at the starter. also check the grounds and connections to the battery.
