944 1987 I have removed the instrument panel and I think located the bulb holders, three of them.. But how do I remove the holders from the panel to get at the bulbs? Do you pull or twist? Alec
« Re my previous post I have found out that you turn the white holder through 90 degrees, it then comes out easily. My bulb had not failed the problem was a damaged flexible printed circuit, probabl.. »
« Good job. In the past, I've seen solder joints fail where the plug is attached to the board on Passat instument clusters. A few minutes reflowing the connections with a soldering iron, and it was .. »

Just recently, in my '92 Camry, my gauge lights went out. I thought it was a blown fuse, but I checked all of them, and they are all fine. Is there a bulb that is for the dashboard lights that is also for the air-conditioning and gear indicators? Thanks. Alejandro.
« ============= Bulbs are separate. See if you inadvertently moved the dimmer control to off. »
« Where is the control at? »

This one is a bit strange. Hyundai dealer has no ideas. The instrument panel lights stopped working. The fader works, the two bulbs in the panel work (lighting up the milage indicator) and all other indicator and signal bulbs work. Just the speedometor and tach display are dark. Now, get this. T..

'81 F100....All the bulbs light, but are very dim. Rheostat works, in that it will dim them even more to Off. I can' find a electrical troubleshooter for this problem, so I'm at a loss. Advice appreciated. Thanks Dave S(Texas)
« putt rearranged some electrons to say: worn-out rheostat in headlight switch. »
« My guess is the rheostat is toast. It should adjust the lights from bright to dim, but it can fail and only adjust from dim to dimmer. Talking about an '81 makes the light switch my first stop on t.. »
« Thanks. I'm gonna check the rheostat voltage In/Out. Problem is: the bulb at the AC/Heater function control and the cab light, are normal bright. Same rheostat. I'm gonna do some electrical con.. »

I have a 97 Camry LE. 230,000 miles, runs great...but... on the instrument panel the cruise, abs & airbag symbol flash when the car is turned on, once in drive only the cruise symbol & airbag symbol continue to flash. I have had the car checked out - no one can find answers. Any suggestions?

I have a 1998 Jetta GL that the interior instrument and dash lights will not illuminate or turn on. However, I do have exterior head lights / tail lights / turn signals / hazards as well as the overhead reading lights. Turn signal/ hazards / high beam indicator works on the instrument cluster..

« so is it on the same fuse as the overhead lights? I would suspect the fuse first but I would also assume that it powers something else. Then I would test that dimmer switch and related wiring. »
« It could also NOT be the switch. If the car was being driven for years without the lights, the lights could be in need of replacement or just readjusting in the instrument cluster. They lose connec.. »

Please Help! My 95 4dr 4X4 Blazer instrument panel lights and heater/ac center lights are not working when the headlamps are turned on. Dome, hatch under the dash light are okay. Check the left side dash fuse box and all fuse are okay - is there another fuse panel that I am not aware of? Thanks..
