Hello and greets all,

....Where oh where to begin...

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a Countach replica. After almost 2 months of
searching, I don't think there's one website dealing with Countaches that I haven't
been to, in my pursuit of finding a decent replica. Some of the more significant
sites (or info) I've found are:

Prova
Lamberti
Parallel Designs
Mirage Replicas

These companies do (or did at one time) produce Countaches. Yet, email these folks as
many times as you want from the 'contact us' page and you never seem to get a reply.

I've been to lamborghinireplica.com. There are always a few Countach replicas for
sale or trade there, but frankly, most of them look terrible and wouldn't pass an
inspection at 100 feet from even an amateurs's eye.

I've been to sites like www.kitcars.com. There, you may actually be lucky enough to
find something very close to what you're looking for. Only problem is the guy will be
located something like 15,000 miles away (relative to the US) halfway around the
world in the Middle East or something and you can find no shipping companies to get
from "here to there."

So what do I mean by a "decent" Countach? A countach that is about 99.9%
indistinguishable from the original (not counting the engine and the like).
It seems to me that the greatest supercar ever made is not just going to fade into
history and become dust in the wind. The companies I listed above have all made very
decent Countaches at one time or another. Where are they now? Where are their cars?

It's looking more and more like I'm going to have to go out on a limb, a very THIN
limb, and actually buy an original Countach, although this is going to break the
bank, put me in debt, and maybe even get me into a heap of trouble with financing and
enormous operating and maintenance expenses. I will not be denied my favorite
supercar of all time, the only one car I've every really wanted. Is this what I'll
have to resort to? If you can, someone please help. Any info much appreciated.
Thank you.

MJ

Have you ever sat in a real Countach? They were my favorite cars of all
time too untill I sat in a *real* one one day. I did not fit! I'm 6'3" -
my knees were *against* the dash & my head was *against* the roof (I
actually could not sit with my head straight)! Really bummed me out...

I'm also in the same boat, always wanted one but can't afford the real thing.
Let us all know if you hear any response, especially from Lamberti or Mirage replicas. I won't stop saving or searching until I get a near perfect replica.

Yes, I'm still looking for the car myself (I was the original poster of this thread Michael J.)

I can tell you this, and this comes after a TREMENDOUS amount of research in looking for these darn things for about the past 8 months: at least 90% of the Lambert/Mirage type replicas are located in Europe. Many/most of them are right-hand drive, naturally being manufactured in Europe. I can drive either, but it does pose a problem if you should need to go through a toll booth on a busy highway, or through your drive-through bank-teller or even McDonald's for a burger.

I have been actively searching for a V8 Lamberti, Mirage, Prova or Sienna replica for months. The conclusion I've reached is this: There are none in the States that can be found, and if by some luck you do find one, chances are it won't be for sale.

There's a guy located in the UK on ebay.. his name is something like "Steve The Maniac Swapper." His real name is Roger, I've corresponded with him several times regarding a Countach clone he has. It's a Mirage, and externally the car is utterly flawless.

The angle of the front bonette to windshield is correct. The "phone dial" wheels are correct, as is the plane of the roof with respect to the rest of the car (some have too much of a rearward tilt). Notice that even the fender flares are seperate pieces; glued into place just as the original Countach; you can tell by the thin black line of epoxy seperating the fender flares from the body; it's difficult with this car as its color is dark.. just look at any real Countach (most US replicas are a one-piece body which is a dead givaway to any expert, and this is the one thing that almost everybody misses in looking for a replica!)

Back in June the guy started out at only about $49,000US. I think now he might be down to around maybe $45,000. Yes, nuts.

Speaking of the Countach, am I the only one who believes that the Countach is 10x better looking than the Diablo, Gallardo or Murcielago? In fact, does anyone else believe that the Countach was simply the most awesome car design to this very day, basically either the biggest fluke of all time, or a stroke of pure genious in automotive design?

Maybe this is so because the Countach was the last car produced while Ferruccio Lamborghini stilled owned the company. And the Countach was, essentially, his ultimate dream car.

Yea or Nay?

Yes, in fact only several months ago I took a Countach for a very short test drive around the block at a local dealer about 15 miles from where I live.

I'm only 6' (with my shoes on) so I had no problem fitting inside the car. Although I must admit, it's not the kind of car I would want to take on a long roadtrip across the US. Smile

It's funny because the soul purpose of Ferruccio Lamborghini's design of the Countach shape was because he was frustrated and bored with the existing designed sports cars, on the road, back in his day.

In my opinion it's still the most bad ass looking timeless designed car on the road today, much better looking than all the later model Lamborghini's.

Fortunatley I Live in Australia and I'm actually after a right hand steering Countach. I've also had my eye on that ebay seller "Steve The Maniac Swapper" for a while now and his "Mirage" is jawdropping. I agree, the cars lines look flawless. The good news is that the proof is in the photos you've posted, that a 99% near perfect replica (on the outside anyway)
does exist. This leaves every other Countach kit car replica for dead!

Every detail has been replicated, even the location and shape of the 4 exhaust pipes sitting around the drop tank area.

I'll have the money for one of these in about 2 years time, I'm estimating I'd have to spend between 50 - 70k(AUD) to buy one out of the factory but I'd prefer to buy one second hand from Europe and not that I'd be in a position to pick and choose but I'm not sure which color best expresses the stunning lines of the Countach, although this dark burgundy looks nice.

What's your favourite color Countach?

I would say I'd have to go with the black. Many of my cars have been that color and always loved it. In my opinion I think black (good shiny paint job) has a unique way of showing off a car's lines. Second choice would definitely be the red.

Hi,

Found this thread when doing my routinely Google search on 'Sienna'.

I am the webmaster of http://www.siennacountach.net and found your comments on the Mirage in the pictures.

This car was bought from someone living in Spain, owning a real Countach and traded the Lamberti Mirage against a speedboat. The price Steve paid for it is nowhere near the price he is trying to sell it for...

As far as I know this car is a "one piece" body. Although there is a slight possibility that the body was made from the Sienna moulds as Lamberti got hold of these at one point in time.

The advertised car is in very good shape and if it hadn't been a RHD I would had seriously considered buying it from the previous owner.

A comment on the roofline: The roofline of this car is NOT correct. The highest point of the roof on a real Countach is above the "A-styles" which is not the case on this car, nor on any other UK Countach replica. This is because all UK Countach replica's originate from one mould taken of a real QV. This mould was stored upside down after it was taken, causing the 'sagging' of the roof.

My Sienna will be modified to correct that, a page that will be of interest to you in the future is http://www.actionvehicleservices.co.uk This guy has worked for Sienna in the past and is developing a new Countach replica, albeit with a very different approach as been seen up to now. He works with a Sienna body and my Sienna doors which will be adapted to fit the correct roofline.

Hope this clarifies a bit. Have a look around my page and build pics and if you have any questions, just collar me.

Theo
