****~~~HELP~~~~***!!!!,
I recently purchased a nice 1972 ZF Fairlane which has a 351 cleveland in which the Distributor is corroded in place.By that I mean that is it impossible to take it out of the block.I have tried soaking in the usual gear like Rostoff,Rp7 etc, also have tried lighly tapping to try and turn it hoping to break the seal all to no avail.(Just keep breaking small pieces of the collar)
The timing is out to buggery. I'm told that if I snap it the motor has to be stripped to be able to get to the underneath of it & push it up that way.
Does anybody have a sensible solution as to how to get the bugger out without breaking it ?
Cheers

Is there any way to apply a gear puller tool, i recall many years ago a
similiar problem, and my mate used a tool like a gear puller, it clipped
under the dizzy, with the bolts loosened, he then turned a bolt which lifted
the frozen dizzy up and out of the housing causing no damage.

Maybe i am wrong or right, but i hope all goes well.

You may have fixed it by now but there's another solution to your "timing
out to buggery", suggested by a friend who did the following..

The pickup sensor in his distributor is slotted into the disrtributor side
skirt. To change the timing, the slot needs to be widened and the sensor
moved to a new position. If the spark is too far advanced, move it in the
same direction as distributor rotation. Vice-versa if the timing is
retarded. Use a timing light to find the correct, permanent position and
fix it in place with ingenuity :O)

Hope this may save much frustration and avoid needing to remove the dizzy
body.
Cheers
