Help us out??2002 santa fe just stopped as if out of fuel

Hi there hope someone can helpme out with our santa fe 4cyl driving along it has just stopped as if it ran out of fuel i thought fuel filter it has done 90k s and is due for a new one!but after reading where it is sounds tricky as im not an A grade mech ,backyard more than anything old cars are my thing any help would be great
