Post subject: Hard idle or soft brakes?

I have a 2001 325ci and I think I have had a problem with my car idling at a higher than normal rpm. I don't know much about cars and thought at first my breaks were getting soft but now think it has more to do with how my car idles.

I think I can actually trace the incident to when I was going through an automated car wash. I was at a stop, instead of neautral, when the automatic rollers that push your car forward activated. But since my car was at a stop it just rolled under my tire and picked up the car slightly before passing through. Sounds strange but immediately after that incident, it takes quite a bit more break pressure to slow my car down and keep it stopped while at a stop light, etc.

Can anyone help me figure this out and advise me on what to do? Thank you!
