I *thought* I heard a slight growl when starting from a stop in my f250, and
it went away when it shifted to 2nd (E04).

HOwever, when I hooked up my heavy Travel trailer and used the weight
transfer bars, it was very noticeable. It may be that it didn't quit after
shifting, but the road noise blocked it out. Then again.....

Should I look at the bearings, or the trans?

TIA

Does the noise change with road speed? I'd guess either your trans or a
driveshaft U-joint is going bad.

Does it change in pitch with road speed? Are you able to hear it at city
road speeds? Louder at low speeds, I'd guess it's your transmission.

Ok, I've heard that the E04 has had some bad 1/R clutches. Is there a way to
spec out a rebuild that would be bullet proof? Pulling a heavy trailer?
