Does anyone know (or know where I could find a listing of) of the peak
torque /horsepower ratings (and their respective RPM's) for an '83 grand
marquis (all stock). it's the 5.0 liter.

This is pure curiosity, I've looked qutie a bit and can't seem to find what
I'm looking for. And I also wonder if the LTD and town cars were the same
or not.

Thanks

Nic

Hi nick,

As you know the Grand Marquis is essentially the crown Vic, so.....here is a
snippett of ford history...
With the LTD name having been bolted on a version of the midsize Fairmont,
the 1983 full-size Fords were all named "LTD Crown Victoria." The only
engine available to civilians was a new fuel-injected version of the 302 V8
rated at 130 horsepower. Visually, a new crosshatch grille added some
distinction. The 1984 LTD Crown Victoria was essentially unchanged. And
except for a new aluminum bumper on station wagons, the 1985 LTD was also
pretty much unchanged.

130 horsepower is about the small 4 cylinder economy cars average today , in
fact it might even be low at that. 130 Hp in a car the size of an Grand
marquis would be scary lol.

Brad

Hmm... well this is the car I drive. I was wondering if fuel injection was
the only version that was offered. My parents bought it in 1985, about a
month before I was born, now I drive it. A couple of years ago we had it
converted to dual exaust. The air pump croaked since then, and the cats
.....................fell off.......................

So not that it would help much, but I can tell a slight difference. One of
these days, when (and if) the electronic fuel system ever croaks.... this
car will probably become carbaurated.... I wonder how much power I could
juice out of it then Very Happy I know a new electronic fuel pump assembly is
around 200 bucks, and I would image the computer and throttle body would
probably be an arm and a leg too, For that price I could probably but a good
carbaurater and maybe a different intake manifold (haven't really done much
research yet, I'll wait till one of these components croaks) and get more
tha 130 hp out of it.

But, thanks for the info.

Even at 130... it's a fun car to drive Very Happy

Nic

Quick question....... since you seem to know some history about this...

Why in 1983 did they switch to an efi system? Was it an attempt at better
fuel economy or something?
