My 156 1.8TS is currently suffering from the same problem - just seems to have started with the cold weather... Had similar thoughts so I replaced the plugs and tried cleaning the wire on the air flow meter. I've read that cleaning doesnt always work though, so going to try fitting a new one shortly - work a chance as available for < £40 on eBay. Don't buy a cheap, pattern, AFM, they're all rubbish and cause more problems than they solve. The same would go for a second hand one - you'll have to stump up for an OEM Bosch if you want to be sure you're solving the problem. alfa 156 - got a 1.8 156 with irregular tickover and lack of power. replaced airflow meter,spark plugs and leads. local garage tested car with electronic reader and said lambda sensor was reacting slowly. anyone out there got any ideas as i dont want to replace it....
