Collected my GT today...delightful.

Would like to update the ICE head unit but it's an integrated
affair...any one done this already and have some advice?

Hi Ed.

If it's just the standard CD/radio, then removal is straight forward. 4
terminal screwdrivers pushed into the holes then pull out the radio. You
can, of course, get the correct tool!

You will need to get a surround adaptor for the facia from a car audio shop,
such as http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ . The adaptor is here

I think the wiring is slightly different for most radios, you may need an
adapter. I just rewired the plug to suit the radio I bought. A multi-meter
helps if you have or can borrow one!

Be careful of radios that protrude at the front (mine does) as this makes
the little cup holder above the radio useless- if that is important!

Thanks Ivan - I saw the facia adaptor but wasn't sure as it said "156
GT" but it looks like it's the right one.

I was thinking of an Alpine CDA-9885 or iDA-X001 so I can get my iPod
connected and they seem to offer direct compatibility to the steering
wheel controls and so forth.

Did find the cup holder useful, though!

No, doesn't work. Alfa has no CAN but a unique dataformat on steering
wheel audio controls. You need an interface between head unit and
steering wheel. The only one i know is from Dietz and supports JVC head
units, such as KD-PDR51E, KD-PDR31E aso.

There is an IPOD converter for the Gt/159/Brera just released. I have
just bought an IPOD to go with it. Unfortuntaley the new model
converter is out of stock everywhere. It allows 9 playlists with 99
songs on each. Part Number for 159 is 71804065

there is an original part 50903120 that allow to connect the standar Radio
with an Ipod (all but shuffle). you can handle your ipod as if it was a CD
charger

you can also purchase this with the brand Ice-Link.

the cost is about 150?
