Send him the equivalent in CASH. He'll much prefer cash to toys. >> Stay informed about: GPS is good for driving or not? |

In the US (or even North America, not sure), the preferred map is
NavTeq. In Europe, the preferred map is Tele Atlas. The two maps are
converging in terms of coverage and quality in the other's areas.
I have a Garmin Nuvi 350. Excellent, compact unit. Free software
updates. One free map update during changeovers. The Nuvi 650 has a
wider screen and Costco had a really great sale (like 50% the cost of
my older 350!).
www.garmin.com
Check their site, looks like BMW also uses Garmin!

Stick to a name brand, like the Garmin Nuvi, Magellan, or Tom Tom. Features
will vary with price.

I've been using my MIO GPS for almost a year now. One thing I don't
like about is that the USB port/charger is on the bottom side, I like
to keep my GPS suctioned to the windshield and close to the dashboard
and avoid obstructing my view when driving. Try looking for a GPS with
the ports on the left or right side rather than in the bottom. >> Stay informed about: GPS is good for driving or not? |
