New Tacoma Owner here
Kinda long Post, sorry
Well I did it.
Went out today and traded my 4 year old gmc in on a Tacoma.
I am or should I say I WAS a DIE HARD GM man, UNTIL today.
I picked up a fully loaded 08 double cab trd 4x4 4.0 liter Tacoma.
It was a special order that they got in, and the guy backed out.
it has everything, heated leather seats, blue tooth, back up camera jbl
sound system.
I first test drove the trd rugged country package, and it shook so bad
threw the steer wheel, (felt like there was a problem with front end),
then i drove the one I got.
I LOVE IT
I always wanted a Tacoma BUT never could work a deal.
With my trade in they were talking like 600.00 a month, i left there 5
hrs later with a 375 a month payment for 60 months and have a 5 yr
75,000 mile service plan.
Sorry for long post, I AM SO FREAKING HAPPY tho.
Just had to share this. >> Stay informed about: R.I.P my GMC |

Be easy on him, he's posting while taking drive-thru orders.
If he concentrates too much on posting, someone might get a Big Beef

The Taco is a basic, inexpensive truck, kinda surprised at the high
payment you have to make. But whatever makes you happy I guess.

Maybe reading and comprehending the details in his message will

LOL, since when has the sticker price had any relevance to the price.
You bargain down from the invoice price, not down from sticker or down
from invoice.
From your original post it seems like you were more concerned with the
monthly payments than the total cost. Car dealers love that. >> Stay informed about: R.I.P my GMC |

I don't doubt your deal. We only get to check places like edmunds.com
and kbb.com in these discussions. I agree with sms that invoice means
nothing but a way to get you to pay more.
I added the options listed blow to the $26,115 one and still come out
with "Customer Cash Adjusted True Market Value" of: ~$28,500. Check
www.edmunds.com. Maybe it's the tax and license and interest cost plus
dealer profit.
Taco has good reviews on edmunds.com, however, the el cheapo 4-cyl are
about $14-18K. The most expensive ones listed on Edmunds.com:
2008 Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab Pickup Truck (Double Cab)
V6 60.3" 4WD 4.0L V6 Manual $24,735
V6 60.3" 4WD 4.0L V6 Auto $25,615
V6 73.5" 4WD 4.0L V6 Auto $26,115
Option packages added:
SL SR5 Package #2 $1,525 $1,220 $1,290
VD Vehicle Stability Control w/Automatic Limited Slip Differential
$950 $817 $848
TO Towing Package $650 $520 $550
GY Curtain Side Airbags $650 $559 $580
EJ JBL In-Dash 6-CD Premium Audio $560 $420 $452
AL 16" Aluminum Wheels $400 $320 $338
LD Limited Slip Differential $390 $322 $338
DZ Deluxe Audio In-Dash 6-CD Changer $200 $150 $161

Edmunds is notoriously high compared to the actual street price you pay.
First, they don't take into account any incentives, which I guess is
fair enough since the incentives are so varied, including by region
(i.e. southern California usually has better much incentives than
northern California, leading to an influx of northern buyers to southern
California when the difference is great enough).
Second, for Toyotas it's extremely rare to have to pay above invoice
since there is so much profit built into the invoice price. Perhaps the
Prius, when it first came out, was an exception.
You can determine the approximate dealer cost by taking the invoice
price, deducting 5%, then deducting the factory to dealer incentives.
Work up from there if you have to, though around here the dealers will
have "all at this price" sales that are well under invoice (about
$500-1000 over their actual cost).
I.e., the last Camry I bought, the MSRP was $20,728, the invoice was
$18,531, the factory to dealer incentive was $1000, and the dealer's
"all at this price" price was $16,988. The dealer cost was apparently
$16675, but I don't know this for sure, and I don't really care as it's
not up to me to care about how much the dealer makes, only about how
much I pay.
I know that they were very unhappy selling me the vehicle at $16,988
with no extended warranty, no financing, etc., and they pulled some
shenanigans to try to get out of the deal. But in the end, they're
better off just making a little money, then moving on to the next
customer who might buy the gold package, undercoating, glass etching,
no-name warranty, no-name alarm, fabric guard, paint guard, digital ash
trays, pin-striping, electronic floor mats, window tinting, heated
steering wheel, plastic wood dashboard, rustproofing, etc. >> Stay informed about: R.I.P my GMC |

"Fully loaded", as the OP stated, in Toyota lingo means at least one of
the TRD packages. You conveniently left that off in your "research".
Also, the OP stated he has leather, Blue Tooth, and a backup camera,
which also means some sort of DVD player or touch screen stereo display.
All are "port" or locally installed options available only from
certain dealers or dealers that deal with certain regional distributors.
The prices of those options are not available on Edmunds.
Even if you did your research more thoroughly, the actual quality of the
transaction is still an unknown without the details of the OP's
trade-in. I believe his trade was a GMC, which could have a widely
varying value based on the ala-carte method by which GM trucks are optioned.
