Thinking of buying a 1991 chevy van with the full (gladiator)
conversion; low miles (92k) excellent condition, new tires, very clean
for just 2K. We are "test" driving it for a week or so to make sure my
wife is comfortable with handling. Our kids already love it. It gets
better gas mileage 16-18mpg than our current 95 Caravan but thats
another story. The only thing wrong with this vehicle is freon has to
be added about every month or so. Are these vehicles known for any
special a/c problems or should we troubleshoot with the dye like any
other? Thanks for any advice on this or the 91 G20 Chevy Van in
general - Bill

I have a 95 conversion van. It was leaking a small amount of 134A every
year, Until one day the line going into the rear accumulator exploded
and puked all of the 134a and oil all over. About 300 dollars in parts
later it cools great.

To see if it is a leak like that just look underneath the van toward the
rear axle and look for oily areas on the lines to the rear AC. It
shouldn't be hard to find.
