Fuel Sending Unit

I have cut a hole in the bed of the truck and have a very good view of the sending unit/fuel pump. I have read a lot of posts and read the Chilton Manual over and over, I cannot seem to figure out how to get the lock ring off of the sending unit to pull it out and change the fuel pump. Does anyon..

Does anyone know of an online source for purchasing a replacement fuel sending unit for an '87 Isuzu Trooper? I am thinking that there must be an aftermarket source for these besides having to pay Dealer$ prices. Thanks

I was reading another post about the problem someone was having with the fuel sending unit. I have a 2000 Silverado with a 167K, my sending unit has been bad (and getting worse) since the truck had around 60K. If I change the pump now while it's still good in order to correct the fuel gauge wil..

« You might describe the procedure you used to check the gauge with the sender out of the car, though with 2 of them apparently checking OK, that's probably not the problem. Sounds like a wiring pro.. »
