Frontier rear differential

I have a 2006 Nismo Frontier 4x4 with 92K miles. I need a new rear differential. I've been told that this is a known problem within Nissan, but they aren't addressing it. It's a $3,600 repair. I contact the corporate HQ and they aren't going to do anything. What's the word on the street about this problem.
