Archived from groups: soc>culture>indian, others (more info?)

The Tata Nano - the world's lowest cost car has been introduced today
to a mob of reporters. It costs $2500.

Now assuming they can make a hybrid or perhaps electric version of the
vehicle and export it to the US, they could qualify for government
rebates. $2500 is the average the govt pays if you buy a hybrid. It
goes upto a high of $3150 for a toyota prius.

That means, the Nano could easily be free after rebate!

But I bet the american & japanese auto industry will sabotage that
idea. It will finish them off. They will ensure the price after
import jumps from $2500 to $12500 or some other scam. Ironically,
when jobs are exported, they cite free trade. Well where's the free
trade now !?
