Newbie here,

07 Ford Taurus, runs fine, just purchased; 29,000 miles.

Car runs for 40 minutes in traffic to work. when I sit in the parking
lot steam pours out of my exhaust after being idle for 10 minutes or
so. It's cold here, but I wouldn't imagine its so cold that there is
so much steam. Is this normal? There is no smell from the exhaust.
there is condensation on the pavement below the exhaust tip. Is it
just alot of condensation or something more?

Thanks for any thoughts!

-Josh

Are you losing any fluids? If not it is likely just condensation. The
normal exhaust gases includes a large quantity of water vapor. If the
exhaust system is "cool" then the vapor will condense and form visible
clouds.

It's just condensation. The exhaust just gets cold as it is going
through the exhaust pipes and condenses on the pavement. Cold air can't
hold much water vapor, so exhaust condenses readily.

This sounds completely normal.

In fact, the only thing that I see that is not normal is sitting in a
parking lot with the engine idling. Why are you doing this?

Leave 9 minutes later. You will still get to work on time.
