I'd think that a competent builder will eventually be able to "get the
knack" of just about any gig sooner or later. Still... I don't think it is
realistic to expect even a person that has had success in other classes to
be able to jump into a pro class and hold up against enormously experienced
builders like Cagnazzi. I think you are right... To be fair, it will take a
few seasons to see what he can do. For me, stuff like this is the most
interesting part of the sport. When you keep on top of this sort of thing,
it makes the actual races exciting. Soooo much work, money, effort and
hopes right there at the tree on the head of a pin. All of it to be
suddenly and loudly released and played out for better or worse in a few
seconds.

Yeah, drag racing is my favorite motor sport. I go to
Chicago Route 66 event every year. Great facility! I
bought tickets the first year they opened the track so I
have *great* seats, right on the start line front row.

I look forward to the race every year. You're right how much
money is spent and hours of dyno time etc. to get every pony
out of the pro stock motors. I've been a Nitro fan for 40
years, but lately I've been getting into the pro stock. I
really like Dave Connely. Is "Grumpy" affiliated with his
team? I see the "Grump" on the line whenever Dave races.
Sure am glad Anderson is losing lately. He was on a roll for
just too long. I am not a fan of his and it was starting to
wear on me. LOL And the bonus is I am a Chevy man, and Dave
drives a Cobalt.

Yeah Wayne, I saw that, but I thought maybe Grumpy was still
on the team in some capacity. Boy Jim Yates has been in the
valley since he let his engine guy go some seasons back. I
can't think of the engine builder right now, but Yates was
killing until they parted company. You remembered Cagnazzi
for me, now maybe you can remember Yates' ex engine builder.

I think yates did something wrong with Dick Masken. I don't think he let
Dick go as much as Dick left. yates was the Leader of the McDivers. Anyone
with Masken horsepower under there hood had to take a dive when they raced
yates. That's how he won two years in a row. It gave p/s drivers a bad taste
in there mouths. I really don't care much for yates. Yes yates is Not in
CAPS for a reason.

Right on Stan, thank you. When Yates had Maskens building
his engines he was a threat every time he came to the line.
Since then nada. Just like TF your crew chief/engine builder
is as important as the driver if not more.

Thanks for then infor Wayne! I didn't realize the politics
going on behind the scenes. There is so much more to drag
racing than just lining up and cutting a light.

Merry Christmas, Geo.
