Hmmm... ya don't give us much to go on here... as far as the trans goes, a
"professionally" rebuilt unit w/new torque converter, etc... "could" run as
high as $2k!, and maybe more in some areas... if rebuilt in Joe Schmoe's
mom's garage on the seedy side of town... something much less... Same for
the engine... a professionally rebuilt unit will cost considerably more than
a shade tree job... What part of the county are you in?

Want to give us a year and what kind of performance you're looking
for? Those two will make a big difference. If you're looking for a
stock engine for a 1975, it'll be less.

Unfortuantely 75% of trans rebuild shops don't actually rebuild them, but
rather just replace what broke and then resell it as "rebuilt" Probably the
single biggest automotive scam out there. Sad that it's so common.
