Archived from groups: alt>autos>porsche>944 (more info?)

Hi!
My name is Eugene, I'm from Kiev, Ukraine.
I'm the owner of '87 944 for more then 2 year and '77 924 for about
half a year.

Purchasing parts for Porsche is a complete hightmare in Ukraine, so
right now I'm purchasing a lot of parts on Ebay.de and Ebay.com. So far
the quality of parts is rather good but I assume there are a lot of
risks.

Could you pls share your experience (if you have any) of purchasing
used and new parts on Ebay?

Thanks a lot!

I have had good results buying used and new parts on eBay. My best deals
come from the pull it yourself junkyards we have here. But there is very
little selection at the junkyards.

I've also had great luck with ebay -- mostly for used parts. The key,
I think, is to make sure the seller has good feedback.

eBay is a gamble. I know. Any seller that has special conditions or
any bad feedback avoid.
You might try here and ask if they will ship to you by air:
http://www.thepartsbin.com
New parts and probably better than anything on eBay Very good prices
also.

you might try contacting houston european (www.houstoneuropean.com) - I've
had good luck with them - if they will ship to you, I think you will find
them easy to deal with and fairly priced

Another choice would be to have someone in the states forward parts to
you -- for general parts I use either Pelican Parts or
www.autopartswarehouse.com. In the US, shipping is free if the order
is over $50.

I imagine there aren't many 944s in the Ukraine! Have any pictures?

Thanks everyone for knowledge sharing Smile

Now I have much more places where to buy parts Smile

Regarding delivery - here in Ukraine we have several companies that are
dealing with it. I just need to send them a link, and tell how much I
want to bid. Sure they are taking some fee for this, so all goods are
more expensive for me but in this case I do not handle any risks with
seller (except quality of goods) and in addition they have a lot of
positive feedbacks as good buyers.

Regarding Porsche in Ukraine - here we have some kind of Porsche Club
(more informal organization), and there are about 20 cars in this club.
924s are about 50%, 944 - 30%, and about 20% of old 911 (930 and 964).
Also there is one 968 and one 914 in our club. Sure there are more old
Porsches in Kiev but there is hard to track them if they are not in our
club.

I have a lot of photos (maybe too many Smile ). But I have time right now
to send them. The quickest way for you is to visit our site and forum -
there are several pics there. All text there is on Cyrillic but I think
you'll deal with navigation Smile:

Thanks again.
I'll be visiting your group from time to time if you don't mind.
