Post subject: E46 320D Turbo failure

I am a neewbie to BMW's can I say I am blown away by the quality of the car. I have recently (1 week ago) purchased a E46 53 reg 2004 150bhp 320d M Sport and like i have said I'm totally pleased with it, the problem or what i thought was a problem first raised its head when i was hell bent of fitting a tunning box and was searching the net for one. It's whilst I was lokking for this that I came across the turbo problem time amd again and seriously started to worry I had made a big mistake in my purchase. I decided to go over the full bmw service history with a fine tooth comb and even contacted BMW and went through it all with them, i found nothing. i was them contemplating replacing the turbo anyway to prevent a failure before it happened I then found a diagnostics receipt from a nationwide autocentre with just stated " diagnostics charge ( turbo failure ) my heart sank and I immediately called them for more info. The bloke remembered it well because they gave hime a quote of £600 for a new replacement, this was all in march ths year. I then called the dealer i bought it from and informed them of my worries and the replied in saying "yes we got it all replaced" i was fumming but they did not seem to understand that I thought all this should be in the vehicles service history but its not, but they were of the opinion that its all fixed so what is your problem.

Not very impressed with how I have been treated or made to feel like I have bothered them for nothing.

One more thing, my stereo has been down graded from what BMW say it should have installed as well. nevermind not really bothered about that because I bought it as it is.

Anyway just thought some one on here would appreciate what I have gone through and understand how lucky I have been, I try explaining to the wife but its like im talking arabic or something.

Does anyone know what the best tunning box to get is?

cheers

Lee
