Post subject: Duramax Piston-to-Bore Clearance
Archived from groups: alt>trucks>chevy (more info?)

Looking for information on the Piston-to-Bore clearance of the 6.6L
Duramax. This is information that should be in the shop manual (if I
had access to one). Need to know the clearance spec. and if there is
more than one piston grade. Thx.

If available I'd also like to know the bore and piston diameter
tolerances.

2006MY (although I'd gladly take whatever model year you have info on)

ethanol/duramax - I was informed that the duramax will run on diesel and ethanol. How does this work? Do you just add ethanol on top of the diesel...drain the tank or what? Also, how long will the engine last if you run ethanol? Will it still last for 300-500,000 miles...
