Post subject: Drum brake squeak noise
Archived from groups: alt>autos>subaru (more info?)

Hi,

I've got an 2003 Impreza. My drum brakes emit a loud "squeaking" noise
and get progressively worse when the air is dry. I've had the dealer
look into this several time and they said this has been a problem with
Subarus in Northern California. Apparently the squeaking is generated
by accumulated brake dust in the drum wells. However, even when the
dealer cleaned the dust out the noise returned.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any solution to the
problem? Subaru has not taken any responsibility for this and claims
they cannot eliminate the noise.

Thanks,
James
