Thanks for that, hadn't noticed it. How irritating.
ZB seems to run ok with the service stopped though. I suppose it will
fail if you try to use it to control the camera.

That's true; the picture viewing/filing/printing parts all work
without it, but the "CameraWindow" thing to download images from the
camera requires it, and the remote control feature may as well.
I didn't find mention of it in the "readme" file; the only reason I
found out about it is that I have one of the services it depends on
disabled on my system, and CameraWindow simply wouldn't start. No
error message, no log entries, nothing.
I did get a ->very fast response to my email to Canon support, which
suggests that I'm not the first person to ask about it.

I use ZB to download pictures from my A95 into dated folders in "my
pictures". After that I use Windows Explorer directory to organize my
pictures into the folders that I want. I find ZB cumbersome and
disorganized though I do like the slide show feature.
