Dodge Caliber starting issue

My 2007 Dodge Caliber starts and runs fine except in *one* situation - I park in a lot for about 8 hours/day during the week after a 30 minute or so drive. After the eight hours, the car will only start on the second try, but on the second try, it starts like normal. The first time it almost makes it but dies.

In any other situation it starts fine, including sitting overnight - the only difference when it won't is that my car is outside for those eight hours. Fwiw, I live in Houston and the weather during the day has been about 85-90 degrees (not including heat index).

Okay, more than a year and a half later...

About a month after I wrote this post I went to get a whirring sound checked out by a mechanics and the dealer - both said it was probably the transmission and yep, the transmission was screwed. 50,000 miles! I had to get it rebuilt and the DAY I got it back I sold it and cut my losses.

I have no idea if the above post and the this were related, but I DO know that the car was a LOAD OF JUNK!
