Post subject: Coolant Temperature gauge not working..... Add to elertz

[Hi- I have a 95 E350 van with a 460cid. Water temp gauge doesnt move from COLD. I removed sensor wire and grounded it, temp gauge moved right to HOT-so Im assuming gauge and sending line is good. Note: just a little bit of coolant dribbled out when original sending unit was taken out. Replaced sending unit (located near distributor and having a one wire terminal) with one from NAPA. I added coolant in expansion tank and ran engine for 15 minutes - still no movement in gauge? Any ideas why it still will not work? Is it possible it needs a Motocraft replacement part?

Ken
