I own an Axim X50v. None of the Axim line have the hardware to act as a
USB host; so you can't connect the camera directly to the Axim. The
Toshibas and LOOX handhelds do, but you need drivers written
specifically for each device you attach - and AFAIK, you'd need a
degree in CompSci to have the skills required to do that. In reality
PocketPC's with USB host capabilities are only meant to be used with
very specific devices, like GPS units.
The X50/X50v Axim has both an SD and a CF slot; I don't think the
others can take CF. When I want to, I just pop my camera's CF into the
slot and look at the pics - it's dismally slow, though; much faster in
a USB 2.0 reader with a laptop. As well, the colors are not accurate,
so you can't edit properly.
I also have a Delkin USB bridge; it requires devices that are designed
to automatically mount as a drive on Windows 2000/XP; the Axim doesn't
do that, it has custom drivers. As soon as I get my Axim (at work) in
proximity with my camera and the Delkin Bridge (at home) I'll hook it
up to see for sure, and I'll report in this thread. I kinda doubt it,
though.
IMHO, PocketPC's are disappointing at best when it comes to
photography. Instead of an Axim, get an old small notebook and upgrade
to a big HDD; it'll only cost a couple hundred more.
