Forgot to mention that the car had about 6,000 miles on it when the knocking noise started. Dealer #1 had the engine apart and replaced a piston ring ( this did not fix the noise at all) after I told them the noise was still there, they blew it off and said it was "normal". I then took it to dealer #2 who claimed that the noise was caused by a damaged oil filter. Dealer #1 did the oil change. Of course the noise was still there after they replaced the oil filter. They then seemed afraid to go any further because another dealer "touched" the car. But then they too claimed normal knocking noise, maybe exhaust? Sounds mechanical to me! Too sharp to not be in my opinion.
