I have a check engine light that will not go out. I've had it checked by a
technician who reset it and the light did go out for a day or so when it
reappeared. I'm at the point where I find the fuse and remove it, but I'm
wondering if this is a common problem.

-Tony.

If you "pull the fuse" your truck will cease operating. You need to find
the problem and fix it. Tech should have read the codes and fixed the
component causing the error.

If the light is on there is a problem somewhere in the computer
monitoring system. The best advice is to find a decent mech and get it
resolved or get a good manual and attempt it yourself.

is your truck a manual? if so, and you drive it hard, you could be
hitting the rev-limiter. my truck does the same thing. leave in gear
too long while stomping on it, it'll hit the rev limiter and the EGR
valve keeps it from blowing up. Hence, the vacuum code. The way to
look at it is that if it doesn't run different, probably not a big deal.
