How hard is it to change the timing belt on a 1990 Volvo 740GL? I
know where the cover is and the two bolts holding the cover on but
everything is just soooooo tight. It seems that all the other parts
with belts at right up against the timing belt cover.

My car is driving (or not driving) me nuts. I have in the past month
replaced the fuel relay, starter, fuel filter and lastly the intank
fuel pump. I can get the engine to turn over but for it to stay
running, I have to hold my foot on the gas peddle to idle it. Once I
take my foot off the pedal, the car shuts back down on me. It did run
2 days after the fuel pump was changed but even that was a horrible
ride. It would choke up alot and creep at 3-5 mph before I was even
able to get it to move. Once it finally got ridden a bit, it was
fine. I did hear what I thought was banging behind me but my son had
said that was the car backfiring.

Any suggestions please????? Pretty Please??????

Thanks

If it seems that tight then my recommendation is that you have a
mechanic with experience do the repair. You don't want to install the
belt incorrectly.

You might want to clean the throttle body.
