Depending on where you live not as much as it will damage your wallet!

It shouldn't damage the engine, but your check engine light should come
on. For 100 to 200 bucks you would probably be better off just replacing it.

Depends on where you live. Some areas are very strict on emissions
inspections, and the cost of a ticket for disabling emission equipment could
be more than the replacement parts.
