Hello,
I have managed to get my hands on an old Casio QV-700. (Well,
actually, years ago I bought it, and then when I bought a Digital Rebel
I gave the Casio to someone. They now have a better digital camera,
and they have given me back the Casio.)
Anyway, I have manage to klug together a working linux box. I am going
to give it to someone that is in need of a computer. (Okay, I think she
needs a hobby to figure out a linux system, that will give someone a
year or so worth of exploring to do.)
Anyway, I am wondering if I can get a Casio QV-700 to work in Linux.
The system is running SuSe 10.0, if that helps. It has the drives for
the digital camera cards. I did put the card out of my Canon in the
drive, and it found the card. FL-Photo will import off the card.
The problem I have had in the past is converting from the Casio file
format to jpg file format.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,

What's the Casio file format? ImageMagick's convert program can convert
just about anything that's not proprietary.

Hi Paul,
I attempted to open the files in SuSe 9.3. FL-Photo, and GIMP were
unable to read them. I think it is some sort of proprietary format. I
will look tonight at a file and see what it does in 10.0.
My friend has been using the camera for a year or more, and it is not a
great camera. I am picking it up tonight. Anyway, I really haven't
tried much to get it to work in Linux. However, if I can, it would be
good.

hmm, that is a thought.
The file format is .cam.
The size of the files are not that large, under 1 megipexal, so this is
a really old camera. Not sure it is worth mucking about with.
