There are Camrys ten tears older than that with 300k miles on them
still on the road. Our '95 LE Four has about 201k miles. This car may
prove to have been the peak of human engineering. Wink

Hi.

My 1995 2.2 I have owned since new.
It has 105.000 miles on it now.
I went to trade it in ( a moment of weakness ) 3 months ago.
On a 3 ltr Lexus I was offered GB£250. that's
about US$400.
I decided to keep it. Mine is like part of the family to.
I hope you are right about the peak of engineering

Take care

The 1992-1996 Camry generation (3rd generation in the U.S.) was the best
quality Camry. In 1997 Toyota began decontenting the Camry, reportedly
taking $2000 out of the manufacturing cost from the 3rd to the 4th
generation. The base model lost the the counter-rotating balance shaft,
and all the levels lost the power/normal switch, the hood springs, and
the triple door seals, among other stuff. $2000 is an absolutely
incredible cost reduction, usually vehicle makers are thrilled to reduce
costs by only a few dollars. They did drop the MSRP slightly, though the
street price didn't seem to move at all.

On the plus side, the current generation (6th) has about the same street
price as the 3rd generation, is larger, gets better mileage, and has
gained many standard features like ABS and a lot more air bags.

I'm certain that in my area the 3rd generation Camry is, by far, the
most common 15+ year old vehicle still on the road.
