It's unlikely to cause much in the way of problems, but unlikely to give
you any noticeable benefit either. Most cars already draw in relatively
cool air once the car is moving.

On any model, it isn't that hot of an idea... The rather modest
performance increases (if any) are counteracted by an increased
propensity for problems, especially during rather wet weather with
large puddles...

Honda specifically warns against the use of cold air intakes in the April
'05 issue of Honda Service News.

lol... CAI performance gains on a CRV?

In all seriousness, if you install the true CAI you will have to drop it
low, where driving in the rain will cause potential hydrolock issues.

If you go with the short ram CAI, it is more of a Hot Air Intake since
it will be under the hood where the temperature of the air running
through the short ram can be as much as 45 degrees F over the factory
air box! In other words, the short ram intake system will generally
HURT performance!

The OP should just install a snorkel, he'll get cooler intake air and
water protection.
