Post subject: Brake shims
Archived from groups: alt>autos>toyota>trucks (more info?)

I have a 90 2wd pickup. All the brake pad shims are missing.
I got a set of shims from Toyota, but there are two shims per pad and I'm
not sure how to install them.
There is a solid silver shim and a black shim with slots cut in it. I
looked at a Chilton manual and the diagram showed the black shim next to the
pad and the silver shim over it.
The only way I can make that fit, is if the two tabs on the black shim point
away from the pad.

Is this correct?

Thanks
Nick
