Hey, I have a 1992 Honda Civic DX automatic with 110,000 miles on it. The car runs and drives great except for a slight transmission problem. When coming up to a stop, if i down shift from D4 to D3 its fine, from D3 to 2nd its fine, but from 2nd to 1st the trans will grind or clunk. The owners man..

« the transmission is protected - it won't allow shifts that damage it. »
« Perhaps - but are you saying that a 'grind' or 'clunk' is normal? I don't think so. And if the transmission is starting to develop problems, then manually shifting it certainly won't help it. Again,.. »
« how does that work? you're not actuating anything in the box by moving the shift lever - all you're doing is changing from autonomous shift control to non-autonomous. all internals of the box fu.. »

The problem I'm having is extremely rough shifting (some flaring) but only when the car warms up fully (+- 15 mins of driving from cold-start). After a little while of this, it drops into limp-mode - jams into 3rd gear. ..

Hi Folks. I got the same problem with 2 neons already (2000 and 2003). After 45 minutes to 1 hour of high speed highway traveling the transmission switches into the "emergency opterating modus" (that is how a mechanic called it). This means that the cars is much slower and there is no kickdown fun..

Hi all, I need your advise. My Golf's transmission acts strangely. Only on the cold engine, when I start the car, put the transmission on D, the car doesn't engage until several seconds. Then it engaged with a push. If I am parked and first engage to Reverse, then when I switch to Drive the car co..
« First off I'd check the transmission's oil level Ken »
« yep. have them check the fluid level. however, the fluid level should never be low unless there's a leak so if it is low, they need to check for leaks too. »
« Sounds like a leak, and sounds like they want to check the pump pressure cold. »
« Thanks everyone very much! I will definitely go and check fluid level. Regards, Stan none2u wrote: »
